General product description
Road vehicles are particularly susceptible to chemicals because of the potential hazard of their tyres getting into contact with aggressive substances even when these are speedily drained away. Road-vehicle filling-station collecting systems should therefore be ideally covered with heavy metal grating that can be safely walked and driven on.
The top surfaces of such collecting trays can, depending on requirements and specifications, be furnished with a smooth finish or sandblasted. Glass-fibre reinforced synthetic moulds (GFS moulds) made from polyester or furan resin, approved coating systems, polymer modified concrete, A4 (material no. 1.4571/1.4401) or A2 (material no. 1.4541/1.4301) stainless steel linings have proven particularly effective for areas that are exposed to highly aggressive substances over long periods of time.
All rail- and road-vehicle collecting systems must be installed on a solid base. Flat collecting tray components should ideally be laid onto a 20 cm, densely compacted gravel and sand base, or a layer of a well-graded mixture of stones that, in turn, is laid onto a solid base, in order to ensure that they are laid evenly.
It is furthermore important to note that the heavy weight of reinforced concrete collecting trays necessitates the use of heavy-duty lifting equipment and the provision of sufficient space for a crane in order to ensure efficient installation. B+F will, upon request, also install collecting systems.
B+F’s collecting trays are designed in such a way that they can either be driven directly on or driven on after being covered with a corresponding heavy-duty metal grate. The latter version is suitable in particular for combined rail- and road-vehicle collecting systems. The metal grates are designed for loads of between 1.5 kN to 100 kN. The integrated gradient drains contaminated liquids into the central drainage channel, which is also covered with metal grates. This ensures that these environmentally hazardous substances are safely collected before being drained to the tray’s outlet via the prefabricated reinforced concrete channel. Depending on customer requirements, the tray outlets can be manufactured from glass-fibre reinforced polyester resin, PEHD or stainless steel pipe.
B+F collecting trays and systems for road vehicles are approved by the German Institute for Building Technology (Licence No.: Z-74.3-35)
